Initially formed in Milngavie to distribute mechanical seals to local firms WGM Engineering has progressed at such a rate that it has expanded to where the company offers a complete and total engineering solution to client's countrywide.
From the original 3 man set up in modest premises, the company now employs in excess of 100 personnel and operates from two interlinked but separate sites.
As managing director Ian Mathieson explained "WGM commenced trading in 1986 and was then primarily involved in sealing devices distributing a wide range of mechanical seals and packings manufactured by First 4 Seals.
Mr Mathieson continued "However due to industry and client demand, WGM developed it's operations to suit the pump repair market. A venture which proved highly successful as the company has grown rapidly year on year on since then.
This ongoing growth has resulted in making WGM one of Scotland's largest and most successful pump refurbishment companies.
Indeed so successful has the company become in the last past 24 years that it has recorded sales of over £8.5 million in the last financial year and now excels as pump repair, installation and testing specialists as well as the pumping ancillary equipment.
Mr Mathieson went on "Our experience and resource covers a variety of industries as our markets lie in the
petro-chemical, power and process areas as well as water and waste water sectors.
We service these sectors from 2 modern and flexible service centres where the most and advanced equipment is available to carry out repairs and reclamation to our clients assets and from which, technical back up, site survey, installation, commissioning and after market services are offered.
These sites are located Paisley & Livingston. Mr Mathieson said I would like to emphasise that we offer a total service which we consider to be unique with in the market place all our disciplines are carried out under the one roof".
He added our recent additions to our Livingston Service Centre such as a state of the art dynamic balancing machine and Belzona blasting and coating centre are allowing the latest innovations to be implemented to pump refurbishment. With a 20 tonne lifting capability we are in the position to carry out repairs in some of the countries bigger pumps.
The business offers a 24-hour service and a policy of on-going investment in plant and training companywide.
WGM offer customers a quality service and products, for this we are indebted to the skills and dedication of our workforce without which we would not be in this position today.
